Press Release Summary: New GT701D DSL modem features an ENERGY STAR adapter,
recycled packaging, and small footprint - giving DSL consumers the ability to reduce
electrical bills and protect the environment

Press Release Body: SUNNYVALE, CA - June 16, 2008 - Actiontec Electronics today
introduced a way to make home networking greener with the launch of an
environmentally friendly DSL modem. The new GT701D USB/Ethernet DSL Modem with
Routing Capabilities offers several key elements to reduce its environmental impact
- from an ENERGY STAR rated power adapter to recycled packaging and lowered waste in
the supply chain.

With its superior energy efficiency, the GT701D DSL Modem helps consumers save money
on their electricity bill while protecting the environment through fewer harmful
emissions from power plants. Its power adapter earned the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA)'s ENERGY STAR rating, signifying that it uses at least 30% less energy
than modems with conventional power adapters.

The EPA first created the ENERGY STAR program in 1992 to provide cost-effective
energy efficient solutions for the home and workplace. Today, the program
encompasses more than 35 product categories, including external power adapters.
According to EPA statistics, there are as many as 1.5 billion small electronic
devices with external power adapters in the U.S. - accounting for approximately 11%
of the national electric bill.

"With rising energy costs and the growing awareness of the impact of global climate
change, there's a strong demand for energy efficient products. According to a 2007
survey commissioned by the Consortium for Energy Efficiency, more than 70% of
households reported being favorably influenced by the ENERGY STAR label. And 80% of
these households said they were likely to recommend these products to their
friends," said Brian Henrichs, Actiontec Vice President of Business Development.

"By integrating our leading DSL modem technology with an energy efficient design,
the GT701D makes it easy for consumers to bring energy efficiency to their home
networks and do their part to help combat greenhouse emissions, environmental
pollution, and climate change," Henrichs added.

The energy efficient modem also features a small footprint that helps minimize its
environmental impact - with less energy consumed and fewer materials, packaging, and
waste produced at each stage of the supply chain. And recycled packaging further
helps reduce waste and deforestation.

The GT701D combines a full-rate ADSL2/2+ modem with a router capable of networking
two computers via wired ports, or more through a switch or hub. Support for the
ADSL2/2+ standard can triple the available bandwidth from 8 Mbps to 24 Mbps - giving
bandwidth-hungry consumers the speed needed to enjoy fast downloads, online
entertainment, high quality video streams, and online gaming.

Actiontec will showcase its green modem, along with other broadband-connectivity
solutions, at NXTcomm08 from June 17-19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth
MSL10126.
